Southbank Centre X Live+Breathe

Exhibition at the Southbank Centre’s Clore Ballroom, after winning climate conscious gallery installation pitch with Live+Breathe.

Connecting Climate Justice and Public Access.

Engaging audiences by unlocking their imagination through nature.

South London deserves better green spaces and cleaner air, and with Live+Breathe, we created an exhibition to bring that vision to life. I was tasked with creating an infrastructure with the company mission, responsible design and sustainability in mind.

In response, myself and my team created a concept for “Bring the Outside In”, wherein we created a child-like paper environment with eco-paper and soy ink, sounds, posters and tidbits of education for attendees to immerse themselves in the “outdoors”. Concepts were created and edited in Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, and Affinity. Audiences sought familiarity and a cartoonish escape from the seriousness of climate change and growing rates of respiratory disease as a result, so we educated in a colourful, expressive and open manner.

We also wanted to hear the voices of Southwark and Lambeth to make this experience educational to our team and Southwark Council too, in creating plantable flower seed-bombs to give back to the environment in a simple way, whilst encouraging biodiversity- and also making an eco-paper “sticker survey”. This survey initially predicted 100 entries, with attendees using symbols corresponding to sustainable causes which relate to them. Around 400 people entered and shared their view, helping us help their vision for a sustainable, environmentally friendly future.

After pitching the initial idea to Jasmin from SoftLoud, our project came to life at Clore Ballroom, Southbank Centre with the help of Little Green Print Shop.
